First week of school!

I
Classes have been well. It's really different this semester because all of my classes are in the same 2 rooms and they are right next door to each other so I feel like I have yet to be actually on campus. But other than that it has been good. A few of my friends are in each of my classes. The other day my roommate Sarah and I grilled some hot dogs with some of our friends:

Chicken Pocket Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 lbs of chicken
6oz of cream cheese
1/4 to 1/2 cup of milk (depends on how creamy you want it)
1 package of crescent rolls
Italian Bread Crumbs

Preheat oven to 350. Cut chicken into small squares. Then cook. Whisk the cream cheese and milk together, then add to cooked chicken. Separate the crescent rolls so you create 4 squares. This means for one square you will have 2 crescent rolls. Pinch them together so it doesn't break. Then add the chicken mixture in the middle of each square. Then take two opposite corners and bring together in the middle, twist. Do the same with the other two. Try to get the dough closed all the way around. If it doesn't it's not a big deal. Sprinkle bread crumbs over and bake for about 10-15 min.

It was yummy!!!! Then we made a Blueberry Breakfast Cake...It was so yummy for breakfast!!!! I found that recipe at this really awesome site!

I have really enjoyed cooking and baking with Sarah. She can cook but is still learning. So it's a lot of fun! My classes are great! I'm so ready for tomorrow night!! It's the first Thursday of the year and I am so ready to see all of my friends and have a good time hanging out together!!!!! Other than that really nothing new has been going on! I am really excited about this semester!!!!!

The start of a new year

So I start classes again tomorrow. It is strange since I feel like I didn't have that much of a summer but oh well. Since I finally cleaned today I was able to get some pictures of my beautiful room. These are my beautiful built in shelves. I absolutely love this part the most about my room! The shutters in the back are from my room last year. I hung them as my headboard. All of those really awesome jars, I actually found them in my basement, my grandmother really doesn't like to get rid of things and I am very grateful for that aspect of her :)

So this is actually an idea my awesome boyfriend gave me with this mirror and shelf. The shelf used to be black so I thought it wouldn't look that great so I just spray painted it  grey and now it is absolutely beautiful! The mirror I got at a garage sale for $8, the lady told me that it was a mirror that was in perfect condition and worth so much more that $10....I told her I would give her $5 and well she just couldn't give it up for that much. Anyways, I'm glad I splurged :)

Well for my girls from work, this is for you. One of my mom's from work planted this for me because everyone at my office had one of these plants and I really wanted one! It's doing so well and it reminds me of the wonderful ladies I worked with all summer. I actually really miss them. Not that I didn't think I would but I just miss always laughing and just getting to know them. They were an absolutely blessing to me this summer. I couldn't have asked for a better job! I even got to have a math problem of the day where one of my girls loved doing them. It made me so happy, I love teaching math to anyone who is willing to learn and well I find it amazing how once people get into careers I feel like they have a tendency to forget things that do not pertain to their job. I loved the fact that she just wanted to learn to work her mind and to understand the concept and that was it. It didn't benefit her job. But she wanted to do it! Well anyways my girls were great. And I start classes tomorrow and I am really excited about starting another year of college and to just have another year of learning!

Easy Lace Canvas

So I needed some new art things to hang on my wall. At my last apartment I hung shutters and they were really cool but I wanted to do something new this year. So I have this new fascination with lace and as I have said before I LOVE grey. I had a few canvas' laying around along with spray paint so I all I needed was lace to make this piece of beauty!

So what I started with was a canvas, I like the ones that have the canvas pulled across a boarder of wood, not the flat ones but I'm sure those would work just as well. I also had a piece of lace that was a little bit bigger than my canvas, tape, and the two colors of spray paint. You want to use contrasting colors or colors that go really well together.
First I spray painted it yellow, I wanted the background to be grey. Whatever color you want to be the main color you paint over the lace. Also, make sure you spray paint the sides, when you hang it you don't want the edges to look strange.

Let it dry. I also sprayed a clear coat just to protect it. I waited for that to dry as well and then covered it with lace. The tricky thing is keeping it tight and stationary. You don't want it to move in the middle of you spray painting. So I taped the lace to the back and made it tight.

Then I spray painted the grey. This was tough because I didn't really know how much grey was actually on the canvas and I wanted to make sure it was even. I did the sides first and then worked inward. Make sure that all of the lace looks like it's the same shade. It will look like this

Then let dry. I let it dry a little longer. then I removed the lace. The lace was actually stuck on the canvas in a few places but just pull delicately but hard enough that it comes off.

I also went over it again with a clear coat just to set the paint. And now you have a masterpiece!

I think it turned out pretty cool, and it only took about 45 minutes and most of that was just waiting for the paint to dry :) I hope you like!!!

Let's get started

So I am completely excited about this blog!! I can't wait to put all of my activities on here. Well to start I guess I should really talk about me.....so....I absolutely love math and teaching math, it makes me really excited to see students get excited when they finally are starting to understand the concept. Well I won't bore you with education talk...anywho...I love old things. Like stuff you find in you grandma's house or basement. I also love taking something and making it into something totally different. I also love my family and friends and my sweet boyfriend, Jake :) He is the guy in the picture with me...he's pretty handsome! I also love butterflies and I my favorite color is Grey. It's okay I know it's strange but it is just beautiful! So I just moved into a new house for this year, it was built in like 1874 and I absolutely love it...except the little cockroaches and spiders that come along with a really old house! It is a boarding house which I have always wanted to live in since I was little and watched "Hey Arnold" but in all seriousness I really have enjoyed it so far! I might try to post some pictures of my cool little bedroom, whenever I actually completely finish unpacking...it's only been a week!

Well I made these awesome Sweet Potatoe fries for dinner, healthy aren't I :) but I made them a few nights ago and Jake ate a good many of them so I didn't get to complete my fix of the yumminess, but here is what Jake left me the other night and they are just soooo yummy :) Well TJ Maxx is having their grand opening at 8am and I am really excited so I must go to bed but my cool project that I hope I do tomorrow will get finished :) Good night
